Giving Thanks

There are so many things to be thankful for, if we take the time to stop and think about them. Family. Friends. The beauty of nature all around us.

Those of us who are active in a church community have a few more things to be thankful for. In the Church, we have another family of people who care about us. And those people are connected to us, not by birth, but by a decision to face life in a positive and loving way.

In this family, we build houses for the homeless, we feed hungry families, we house and clothe homeless people in our community. We meet once a week (or more) to talk about what is most important to us. We eat together, we learn together, we laugh together. And our vision of the world grows – we are connected to other church communities across the globe. While most people learn about world events through daily news services, we are connected to world events through friends and colleagues who can tell us what is happening right now in their lives.

The Church is a truly special community, unlike any other. It’s never perfect – we all have our flaws. But I am thankful for all I have learned and experienced in my church family.
